Sabrina Tanner is a multifaceted talent in landscape design, horticulture, and garden management. Her expertise spans from creating breathtaking botanical gardens to managing large-scale winery landscapes. Sabrina's skills include horticultural consultation, project supervision, irrigation system design, and organic culinary garden management.

Sabrina Tanner's diverse skill set and passion for creating exceptional gardens have established her as a respected figure in the landscape design and horticulture industry. Sabrina and Freeland enjoy teaching avid gardeners in their home garden during the Freeland and Sabrina’s Garden Experience program in conjunction with Rebecca Sweet, and in partnership with Jim Peterson of Garden Design.

Sabrina is continually surprised by how much their garden means to the people who visit. They receive wonderful thank-you notes, and some guests even send pictures of the garden with the Tanners in them. They love to share memories and often return year after year just to see how things have changed. It amazes her that people remember and want to keep coming back.

From Sabrina: “Visitors often tell us that they can feel our souls in the garden—that it’s more than just a place, but a source of comfort, like a big hug. They say it’s different from visiting an estate or another private home with vast resources. Even though our garden is large, they feel it’s crafted by our hands and filled with our love. They sense the energy we share with them through it.”

Career Highlights

Sabrina joined PROSCAPE LANDSCAPE DESIGN as a full-time partner in 1997, initially handling sales, marketing, and horticultural consulting. Her talent quickly led to contracts with prestigious wineries like Beringer Brothers, Chateau Souverain, and Chateau St. Jean.

Personal Background

Born in San Francisco, Sabrina developed an early appreciation for art, music, and dance. At age 10, her family's move to Sebastopol introduced her to farming, where she learned to grow vegetables, flowers, and raise chickens. In 1988, Sabrina and her husband Freeland moved to his family's one-acre homestead in Napa. Together, they transformed the property into a nationally recognized botanical garden, showcasing their landscape design talents. From 2012 to 2015, Sabrina organized annual garden tours of their property to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research and the Napa Cancer Wellness center. These efforts raised over $12,000 in donations.
